Hello! Seamless Teams App (Rel 22.1)

25. April 2022

This release includes our first, customer facing version of the new Seamless Teams App. The AskMeWhy Team has been working for a few months on transferring the central Seamless functionalities into a native Microsoft Teams App without losing the previous philosophy and functionality. At the same time, we created the basis for future developments.

The native Seamless Apps work in the Microsoft Teams Mobile App for iOS and Android and support light, dark and high contrast, representations.

Seamless Teams App

New

  • Users can now see and access all their Seamless and non-Seamless workspaces in one place in Microsoft Teams. This allows users to identify all the work areas they have access as owners, members, or visitors. This not only allows a central overview, but also enables inactive work areas to be cleaned up.
  • The Seamless Teams App displays all Seamless Workspaces in SharePoint and Teams. Additionally, it displays all Microsoft 365 Groups, SharePoint Sites, private and public Teams as well as private or shared Teams Channels.
  • We have added extra space to allow full display of very long display names.
  • Teams and SharePoint Sites provisioned by the Seamless Engine additionally display their state, organization unit, workspace type, responsible, deputy, and relations to connected Seamless workspaces (e.g. Project and partial project).
  • Using the Search functionality, users can filter the available workspaces.
  • Thanks to the lazy loading approach, the overview returns all accessible workspaces with fast loading performance - even if you have access to several thousand workspaces.

Seamless Tab

New

  • The Seamless Tab is automatically installed in the "General" channel in Teams provisioned with Seamless and allows Teams owners to manage metadata and relationship to other workspaces.
  • The attributes "Responsible" and "Deputy" are decoupled from the Microsoft Teams roles (Owners, Members, Guests). As a result, organizations can still differentiate between those responsible for content and those responsible for Teams permissions.
  • To make sure that the Seamless Tab can be accessible to all project members, it can only be added once, only in the general channel and only in Seamless Teams workspaces.

Multilanguage and OneNote (Rel 19.2)

26. August 2019

The following features and improvements will be provided with the new release:

SharePoint Add-In

New

  • Multilanguage Support for workspace attributes: Seamless now supports multilingual, custom workspace attributes.

  • Support French and Italian: Beside English and German, Seamless now supports French and Italian. Please let us know if you would like to have other languages supported.

  • Search scope in Seamless Workspaces: If you are in a workspace, the Seamless Search will search by default for documents in the current workspace only. If you would like to search for workspaces, documents and people, you simply have to change the Seamless Search Scope selector from “Current Workspace” to “All”. In the Seamless Overview or Startpage, only the scope “All” is available.

  • Workspaces with special characters: You can now create Seamless workspaces containing special characters

  • Seamless Search Result by workspace type: In the search result, there is a new filter available to filter the trimmed by returned workspace types

  • Site Notebook availability: When you create a new Seamless workspace, the site notebook will be automatically provisioned, and the name will be the same as the workspace. This will make it easy for you to differentiate between the OneNote Notebooks available in your OneNote Application. The link to the OneNote Notebook is available at the bottom of your workspace information. If your workspace does not contain a Site Notebook, the link in the workspace information will be hidden.

Improvement

  • Stop of provisioning of OneNote in “Documents” and “Restricted Documents”: As it was confusing for some customers, Seamless will no longer provision a OneNote Notebook in your “Documents” and “Restricted Documents” App of a workspace. The OneNote view in these two Apps will remain, as MS Team creates OneNote Notebooks in the document library of your Seamless Workspace. If you would like to work with a restricted OneNote in your workspace, you have to manually create it in your “Restricted Documents” App.

  • Deeper Office 365 Group Integration: As Seamless Admin User, you can connect a Seamless Workspace to a new Office 365 Group and/or a MS Teams. It doesn’t matter if you create a public or a private Office 365 group – both settings will work with Seamless. As following Office 365 Groups is not support in the classic way of SharePoint, you cannot use the following function for new Seamless Office 365 Groups. Already followed workspaces will remain in the favorites of the current user, until they are unfollowed. Seamless Office 365 Groups can be accessed using the Seamless Search.
